Slide 1: ITS America State Chapter Training Program

Slide 2: Background

  • Since 2011, the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Professional Capacity Building (PCB) Program has partnered with ITS America in offering training courses held in conjunction with ITS America state chapter meetings and related events
  • The objective of this partnership is to enable state and local, public and private sector transportation professionals the opportunity to receive training and information on some of the most relevant, forefront ITS issues of today

Slide 3: History of Workshops

  • A total of 55 courses on ten different topics have been delivered since 2011
  • 23 different State Chapters have held workshops since the inception of the program, covering a total of 35 states
  • Course delivery has grown from six courses delivered in 2011 to 12 courses delivered per year since 2014
  • Attendance has increased from an average of 28 people per session in year one (2011) to 47 people in year 5 (2015)

  • Access to free training without requiring travel
  • Professional Development Hours (PDHs)
  • Networking
  • Opportunity to seek guidance and resources from U.S. DOT as needed, as well as stay connected and engaged with U.S. DOT activities and research

Slide 5: Future of Program

  • ITS America will survey the leadership of the State Chapter Council to gather input as to which topics are of the most interest to their state or region and potentially develop new courses in coordination with U.S. DOT
  • Broaden the audience who have access to these training
  • More partnerships with universities where possible
