Slide 2: State Chapter Trainings

  • ITS America continues to partner with the U.S. DOT’s ITS Professional Capacity Building (PCB) Program with the goal of increasing the participation in ITS training, planning, and ultimately ITS deployment by targeted stakeholder groups.
  • Through the ITS America State Chapter trainings we have been able to reach state and local transportation agency staff, and given public and private sector professionals the opportunity to learn and receive information about critical issues in the ITS industry.
  • These trainings have become an increasingly important part of State Chapter Annual Meetings and affiliated events, especially given the difficulty that state and local staff have when it comes to travel.

Slide 3: State Chapter Trainings (continued)

  • Since the start of this partnership between ITS America and U.S. DOT there have been a total of 60 trainings delivered to 22 different State Chapters, covering a total of 35 states.
  • Trainings are predominately in person to facilitate an open dialogue between participants and instructors, but virtual courses have also been delivered in the past.
  • Starting in 2017 several new course topics will be offered through the program. Some of these new topics include Cyber Security, Deploying ITS: Strategic Planning and Implementation, Introduction to Operations Performance Measures and Management, and Fundamentals of Database Management Systems.
