Figure 31. Diagram. PSM data flow diagram.

This diagram shows the component data flow for the Personal Safety Message (PSM) application. This data flow is divided into 4 sections going from right to left, each section being divided by vertical lines (a total of 5 vertical lines to mark the sections’ boundaries). Each section contains an arrow that points slightly diagonally downward (approximately –10 degrees) from boundary to boundary. As one progresses through the sections, the diagonal arrows move lower and lower, beginning where the previous section’s arrow ends.

The first section is farthest to the right and the beginning of the first section is indicated by a vertical solid line and an illustration of a “Nomadic Device” (a person using a mobile device to send PSMs) above the solid line. A dashed diagonal arrow points slightly downward, starting from about 75% of the height of the first vertical line. The dashed diagonal arrow represents a wireless connection. Within the first section, “PSM Information” is above the dashed diagonal arrow and “HTTP POST” is below the dashed diagonal arrow.

The end of the first section and beginning of the second section is indicated by a solid vertical line and an illustration of V2XHub above the solid line. A solid diagonal arrow points slightly downward, starting where the previous section’s arrow ended. Within the second section, “Personal Safety Message (UPER)” is above the solid diagonal arrow and “SAE J2735 (UDP)” is below the solid diagonal arrow.

The end of the second section and beginning of the third section is indicated by a solid vertical line and an illustration of a Roadside Unit (RSU) above the line. A dashed diagonal arrow points downward, starting where the previous section’s arrow ended. The dashed diagonal arrow represents a wireless connection. Within the third section, “Personal Safety Message” is above the dashed diagonal arrow and “SAE J2735 (WAVE)” is below the dashed diagonal arrow.

The end of the third section and beginning of the fourth section is indicated by a solid vertical line and an illustration of an OBU above the line. A solid diagonal arrow points slightly downward, starting where the previous section’s arrow ended. Within the fourth section, “On-board device warning” is above the solid diagonal arrow. The end of the fourth section is indicated by a dashed vertical line and an illustration of a vehicle containing an OBU above the dashed line.
