Complete Trip – ITS4US Webinar Series

USDOT has launched the Complete Trip - ITS4US Deployment Program that aims to solve mobility challenges of all travelers, regardless of location, income, or disability, in accessing jobs, education, healthcare, and other activities.

This Program is a multimodal, multi-year, effort let by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) with support from Office of the Secretary of Transportation (OST), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that will make up to $40 million available to enable communities to showcase innovative business partnerships, technologies, and practices that promote independent mobility for all. The Program expects to procure and award multiple large scale, replicable, real world deployments of integrated innovative technologies to address the challenges of planning and executing complete trips.

USDOT is hosting a series of webinars to assist prospective deployers and partners. Webinar recordings and information about future webinars is available below.

Webinar #1: Complete Trip - ITS4US Deployment Program Overview

This webinar will present an overview of the Complete Trip - ITS4US Deployment Program. Loren Smith (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy) will open the webinar with an introduction of the Program. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO), will present the program vision, mission, guiding principles, and expected outcomes, and provide an overview of the upcoming solicitation. In addition, Shari Schaftlein (Director, FHWA Office of Human Environment) will introduce the Complete Trip concept and Dawn Sweet (Director of Headquarters Operations, FTA Office of Civil Rights) will present transportation challenges that the program is aiming to address. The webinar will conclude with information for potential deployers about the remainder of the webinar series.

Webinar #2: Deployment Partnerships and Planning

This webinar is the second in an on-going webinar series to assist prospective deployers and partners for the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. Sofia Gallo (Special Assistant, Office of Transportation Policy) will provide a brief introduction of the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. David Pinkney (Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) Program Analyst, FHWA Office of Civil Rights) will present on how communities can identify and engage stakeholders to define the transportation needs and challenges of their region. Danielle Blackshear (Transportation Specialist, FHWA Office of Human Environment) will discuss user needs identification and practices that identify key steps in the decision making and planning processes for a successful deployment. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO), will discuss approaches to partnerships and best practices to ensure a complete team with impactful partnerships is developed.

Webinar #3: Enablers and Technologies

The third webinar in the series will explore potential enabling technologies and services to support Complete Trip deployments. Sofia Gallo (Special Assistant, Office of Transportation Policy) will provide a brief introduction of the Complete Trip - ITS4US Deployment Program. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO) will give an overview of the program and upcoming procurement. Deborah Curtis (Highway Research Engineer, FHWA Office of Operations Research and Development) will discuss the technologies and services that could be leveraged to design innovative and integrated Complete Trip deployments. Murat Omay (Senior Transportation Program Analyst, FTA Office of Research, Demonstration and Innovation) will present information on developing large-scale, integrated, replicable, and real-world deployments of integrated technologies.

Webinar #4: Deployment Scenario Examples

This webinar is the fourth in an on-going webinar series to assist prospective deployers and partners for the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program by presenting hypothetical examples of communities applying the Complete Trip deployment concept development process, including identification of transportation challenges, partnership building, and concept development of integrated technology solutions. Sofia Gallo (Special Assistant, Office of Transportation Policy) will provide a brief introduction to the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO), will give an overview of the program and upcoming procurement. Kate Hartman (Chief, Research, Evaluation and Program Management, ITS JPO) and Christina Gikakis (Program Manager, Office of Mobility Innovation) will provide example deployment scenarios and integrated Complete Trip solutions for transportation challenges in two hypothetical communities.

Webinar #5: Deployment Scenario Examples

The fifth webinar in the series will present two more hypothetical examples of communities applying the Complete Trip deployment concept development process, including identification of transportation challenges, partnership building, and concept development of integrated technology solutions. Sofia Gallo (Special Assistant, Office of Transportation Policy) will provide a brief introduction to the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO), will give an overview of the program and upcoming procurement. Elina Zlotchenko and Kevin Adderly (Program Coordinator, FHWA Office of Planning, Environment, and Realty) will provide example deployment scenarios and integrated Complete Trip solutions for transportation challenges in two additional hypothetical communities.

Webinar #6: Privacy, Security, and Open Data

This webinar is the sixth in an on-going webinar series to assist prospective deployers and partners for the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program by presenting on data requirements as they apply to the complete trip deployment concept development process, including identification of data sources, data management plan requirements, metadata, and security and privacy needs. Sofia Gallo (OST) will provide a brief introduction to the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. Elina Zlotchenko (Program Manager, ITS JPO), will give an overview of the program and upcoming procurement. Govind Vadakpat (Highway Research Engineer, FHWA) will provide information on what prospective deployers should consider about data generated by their deployment and how to address potential data challenges.

Webinar #7: Procurement Path

This webinar is the seventh in the webinar series to assist prospective deployers and partners for the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program by presenting on the procurement and selection process for this solicitation. Sofia Gallo (OST) will provide a brief introduction to the Complete Trip – ITS4US Deployment Program. The presenters from the FHWA Office of Acquisition and Grants Management will also provide information on the procurement process for the upcoming Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Phase 1 of the Complete Trip - ITS4US Deployments including the contract scope and award and selection information.
