Program Overview

The ITS Professional Capacity Building (PCB) Program supports activities that deliver multimodal ITS learning opportunities to transportation professionals by providing ITS trainings and webinars, fostering cohorts, and providing technical assistance to agencies deploying ITS technologies, as authorized by 23 USC 514 .

The ITS PCB Program works with Federal, State, and local transportation stakeholders to ensure they have adequate knowledge of ITS for consideration in the transportation planning process and that the United States has a workforce capable of developing, operating, and maintaining ITS.

Spotlight on Training and Technical Assistance Resources

Smart Community Resource Center

An online resource connecting states, tribal governments, and local communities with resources to help develop intelligent transportation systems for smart community transportation programs.

Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Training

A comprehensive training program provides foundational trainings for practitioners as well as technical trainings on V2X standards.

Connected and Automated Vehicle Education (CAVe)

Hands-on learning experience to aid curriculum, and support instruction for community colleges and trade schools, facilitate benchmarking connected vehicle equipment, and support onboarding of ITS technicians.

Accelerating V2X Cohort

A community of practice of state and local agencies -- and other infrastructure owners and operators (IOOs) -- sharing best practices and lessons learned to accelerate the deployment of V2X technologies.
