Greg Krueger Joins ITS-JPO
Greg Krueger joins the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) and the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS-JPO) as a Program Manager for the IntelliDriveSM program. IntelliDrive is a multimodal initiative of USDOT whose mission is to enhance the safety, mobility and quality of life of all Americans, while supporting the evolution of a more sustainable surface transportation system by leveraging the potentially transformative capabilities of wireless technology. Krueger comes to the ITS-JPO from the Michigan Department of Transportation and is committed to the enhancement of statewide transportation operations systems, using technology to improve safety and mobility.
Krueger was brought on as part of the Intergovernmental Personnel Act a federal program that permits temporary assignments of skilled personnel from state and local governments, institutions of high education, Indian tribal governments and other eligible governments Krueger will be working with ITS-JPO until June 2011 and then will return to the Michigan DOT.
No stranger to IntelliDrive efforts, Krueger has been involved in technology traffic management initiatives for the past 17 years. Krueger completed traffic studies for Detroit, Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and Phoenix metropolitan areas, as well as developed ITS architectures for rural and urban portions of Michigan, North Carolina and Colorado. Krueger is also experienced at developing cooperative agreements for data sharing, both domestically and internationally.
Krueger holds a Masters degree in Civil Engineering with a Traffic Operations concentration. Krueger is the Chair of ITS America IntelliDrive Task Force and a member of the TRB Freeway Operations and Intelligent Transportation Systems Committees. Krueger also founded and served as Past President of ITS Rocky Mountain. Please join us in welcoming Greg to the team.
