USDOT Launches the Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge!

USDOT has launched the Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge!  We are inviting innovative minds to bring novel concepts and perspectives to develop analytical visualization tools that can provide life-saving insights and solutions for transportation safety. Your involvement along with the collaboration of a diverse group of stakeholders with expertise in safety, data, and technology is essential to successfully address the Nation's significant transportation safety challenges.

Individuals and teams are competing for $350,000 in cash prizes by developing innovative analytical visualization tools to enable insights, inform decisions, and reduce fatalities and serious injuries on U.S. road and rail systems. Tools can range from dashboards using disparate data sets, to spatial analysis via maps, virtual or augmented reality scenarios, image and image analysis, social media mining and beyond.

Become part of the solution! Please consider participating in the Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge as a Solver submitting innovative ideas or as an Innovation Agent providing real-world knowledge, guidance, insight, issues, and data to participants.  Upload your innovative idea for an Analytical Visualization Tool by the Stage I deadline of July 31, 2018, 11:59 PM ET.  A fact sheet available on the USDOT website provides a good overview of the challenge.

Additional details about the challenge, application, and upcoming webinars are available at: https://www.transportation.gov/solve4safety.

Please help spread the word on social media using the hashtag #solve4safety.

We hope you will join the Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge to improve transportation safety.
