"I am visually impaired and unable to drive. My family is not close and I rely on HIRTA for all transportation needs. HIRTA provides me with rides to and from doctor visits. I had been
getting discouraged in getting transportation. HIRTA and the Health Connector help tremendously."
“We often hear about mobility and accessibility barriers that individuals are facing, or we live out those barriers ourselves. G-MAP will allow individuals to plan their trip to be
fully accessible for them while increasing safety. This project is empowering because G-MAP is creating a whole new level of independence for people.”
“With my vision impairment, a speech-enabled web app on my phone helps me know if my route includes well-paved sidewalks, intersections that have signalized and marked crosswalks, and
stairs-free paths to the buildings.”
“I am a nurse at Buffalo General Medical Center who uses the Buffalo All Access community shuttle service along with the Complete Trip Platform app to get from my home in Masten Park
to the hospital on the BNMC campus.”

The ITS4US Program is currently in the third of three phases. By having phases, the USDOT has decision gates where it can decide if the next phase of funding will be made available to an
awardee. This system helps ensure a return on investment and good use of public funds. For example, it was decided that the California Association of Coordinated Transportation (CALACT) project,
which was initially awarded Phase 1 funding, would not continue into Phases 2 and 3 and therefore did not receive funding for those phases. To learn more about the phased program approach visit
the Program Overview page.
