Program Overview
In 2019, USDOT launched the ITS4US Deployment program, investing $38 million to enhance transportation safety and availability across American communities. Led by the ITS JPO, this multimodal initiative leverages innovative technology to improve transportation efficiency while creating strong public-private partnerships, implementing cutting-edge solutions, and delivering cost-saving, scalable results that other communities can replicate.
Vision and Goals
VISION
Innovative and integrated multimodal technology deployments to support safe and seamless travel for all users across all modes.
GOALS
- Identify local transportation challenges and address them with integrated technology solutions
- Operate large-scale deployments in real-world environments
- Serve as replicable models through project documentation
- Measure impact of solutions and share results with the deployment community
Promoting Replicability
The ITS4US program is committed to advancing transportation solutions that can be replicated and scaled across communities nationwide. By prioritizing transparency and knowledge-sharing, ITS4US is ensuring that innovations developed through this program can benefit travelers everywhere.
Comprehensive Documentation
All participating deployment sites have documented their processes, findings, and lessons learned, making this valuable information readily accessible on ITS4US website. This comprehensive documentation provides communities with the insights needed to adapt and implement similar solutions in their own regions.
Open Access Resources
To maximize the impact and replicability of ITS4US innovations, the data and code developed through the program are freely available to the public:
Data repository: datasets from deployment sites are available on the ITS JPO DataHub, enabling researchers, developers, and transportation agencies to analyze real-world implementation data.
Code repository: all open-source code and technical solutions are shared on the ITS JPO CodeHub, allowing communities to adapt and build upon existing tools rather than starting from scratch.
