Current Research
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s ITS research focuses on several high-priority areas including Emerging and Enabling Technologies, Data Access and Exchanges, ITS Cybersecurity Research, Automation, ITS4US, and Accelerating ITS Deployment. The ITS Strategic Plan includes in-depth discussion of the ITS Program’s strategic goals, these research areas, and four technology transfer programs.

2024 Automated Road Transportation Symposium Offers Interactive Breakout Sessions on Automated Vehicle Safety Topics
The 2024 Automated Road Transportation Symposium (ARTS24) will offer 24 interactive, “deep-dive” breakout sessions designed to be collaborative to stimulate discussion and brainstorm ideas. The breakouts include all professional levels, from C-Suite executives and U.S. Department of Transportation staff to summer interns. The focus of the sessions will span three subject areas—policy, operations, and safety.
